Gabriela de la Paz Meléndez is a distinguished academic and researcher in the realms of political science and international relations, boasting an illustrious career both in Mexico and abroad.

Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, Gabriela embarked on her academic journey by earning her Bachelor's degree in International Studies from the University of Monterrey in 1996. She subsequently pursued advanced studies, obtaining a Master's degree in Diplomatic Studies from the Matías Romero Institute of Diplomatic Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico in 1998.

Driven by her fervent interest in comprehending political conflicts and peace processes, Gabriela pursued a Doctorate in Political Conflict and Peace Processes at the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the Complutense University of Madrid, which she completed in 2011. This endeavor solidified her expertise and insight in the field.

Since 2002, Gabriela has served as a professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the School of Social Sciences and Government of the Monterrey Campus of the Tecnológico de Monterrey. Throughout her tenure at Tec de Monterrey, she has garnered recognition for her profound grasp of conflict management, governance, foreign policy, and migration dynamics in North America. In addition to teaching pivotal courses in areas such as North American Studies and Social Development and Globalization, she assumed leadership roles such as directing the Center for North American Studies at Tec de Monterrey, Monterrey Campus, from 2009 to 2014.

Beyond academia, Gabriela is an active participant in numerous national and international conferences, where she presents research findings on migration policies in the United States and Canada, as well as electoral processes in the United States and migration policies along the Mexico-U.S. border. Her scholarly contributions extend to various publications, where she has authored chapters on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the bilateral relationship between Mexico and the United States.

Gabriela's influence extends to the realm of journalism, as she has been an esteemed editorialist at El Norte newspaper (Reforma Group) since 1998. Through her editorial pieces, she addresses topics ranging from international conflicts to the intricate dynamics of Mexico's relationships with the United States, Canada, and global affairs.

In addition to her academic and journalistic endeavors, Gabriela is a dedicated leader in civil society, holding the position of President of the Redes Quinto Poder organization. Through her involvement, she champions the cause of transparency and citizen engagement in Mexico.
