Dr. Lucana Estévez Mendoza
Dr. Lucana Estévez Mendoza is a distinguished scholar and expert in law, specializing in European affairs and criminology. She earned her Doctorate in Law from the prestigious San Pablo-CEU University, with a thesis titled "Police and Judicial Penal Cooperation in the European Union: Treaty of Nice and Future Perspectives," which was awarded Summa Cum Laude in 2007. Her doctoral studies were supported by a research and teaching scholarship from the San Pablo-CEU University Foundation, in collaboration with the Institute of European Studies and the Faculty of Law of the same university, from 2001 to 2005.
Before completing her doctorate, Dr. Estévez Mendoza obtained her Bachelor's degree in Law from San Pablo-CEU University in 2001, specializing in Community Law. Following this, she prepared for the entrance examinations for the Spanish Military Legal Corps from 2008 to 2010. Continuing her academic journey, she pursued a Bachelor's degree in Criminological Sciences and Security at CEU San Pablo University between 2015 and 2018.
Since 2010, Dr. Estévez Mendoza has served as a Collaborating Doctor Professor in the Faculty of Law at San Pablo-CEU University. Her research primarily focuses on European issues, particularly the European Area of Freedom, Security, and Justice. She has delved into topics such as police cooperation, Europol, judicial cooperation including the European Arrest Warrant and Eurojust, mechanisms for combating terrorism, juvenile delinquency, and juvenile criminal responsibility. She has actively participated in various national and international research projects and has numerous scientific publications to her credit.
Dr. Estévez Mendoza's academic pursuits have taken her beyond national borders. She is proficient in several languages, including English at level C1, French at level B2, Chinese at level A2, and German at level A1. She has undertaken various study visits abroad, including teaching assignments in Hungary, Portugal, and France, as well as research in Chile. Additionally, she participated in the W30 Program: Developing Women Leaders in University Administration at UCLA Andersen Executive Education in 2014.
In recognition of her academic excellence and contributions to the scientific community, Dr. Estévez Mendoza was appointed as a Full Member of the Academy of Criminology and Forensic Sciences of Spain in 2020, and as a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Criminology and Forensic Sciences of Andalusia in 2019. She continues to be a prominent figure in the academic field, respected internationally for her expertise in law and criminology.
