Dr. Sonia Hernández Pradas
Sonia Hernandez Pradas, a distinguished academic and researcher specializing in Public International Law, boasts a rich and multifaceted career dedicated to the advancement of International Humanitarian Law, particularly concerning the safeguarding of children in armed conflicts.
Her academic journey commenced with a Bachelor's degree in Law from CEU San Pablo University, followed by the attainment of her Ph.D. in Public International Law in 1999. Her doctoral research, under the guidance of Dr. Manuel Pérez González, delved into the intricate realm of "Children in Armed Conflicts: Legal Framework for International Protection," achieving the highest distinction of Summa Cum Laude.
Since October 2015, Sonia has held the position of Full-time Contracted Doctor Professor at Francisco de Vitoria University, where she imparts knowledge on International Humanitarian Law and various facets of International Law. Prior to this, she dedicated 16 years to teaching as a Professor at the Villanueva University Center in Madrid.
Complementing her academic endeavors, Sonia has been an integral member of CEDIH (Center for Studies on International Humanitarian Law) at the Spanish Red Cross for over 27 years. Within this capacity, she has been instrumental in disseminating knowledge on International Humanitarian Law, with a particular emphasis on the protection of children and women affected by armed conflicts.
