Dr. Yaelle Cacho Sánchez


Yaelle Cacho Sánchez is a distinguished academic and jurist, recognized for her extensive knowledge in Public International Law and International Relations. Born with an innate passion for justice and international cooperation, she has forged a brilliant career that has led her to become an authority in her field.

Graduating as a Doctor of Law from the prestigious University of Cantabria in 2005, Yaelle has dedicated her academic career to research and teaching at this institution. Currently, she holds the position of Professor of Public International Law and International Relations at UC, where she has left a profound mark thanks to her dedication and commitment to academic excellence.

Her research work has focused on three main areas: international peace and security, human rights, and international cooperation for development. In the field of international peace and security, her work has been fundamental, with notable contributions such as her doctoral thesis and various publications, as well as her involvement in research projects and international activities, including her role as a member of the Spanish delegation to the UN Special Committee on the Responsibility of UN Officials and Experts.

Regarding human rights, Yaelle has conducted exhaustive studies on the recent practice of the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights, which has been reflected in numerous publications, research projects, and international collaborations, including her collaboration with the Special Rapporteur of the UN International Law Commission.

Furthermore, she serves as the Director of the Master University in Human Rights and National and International Protection Mechanisms at UC, demonstrating her leadership and dedication to advancing human rights education and advocacy. Additionally, she holds the position of Academic Director of the University Master's Degree in Access to the Legal Profession and UC Attorney, where she plays a crucial role in shaping the legal education and training of future legal professionals.

Finally, her commitment to international cooperation for development has been evident throughout her career, especially during her tenure as Director of the International Cooperation for Development Area (ACOIDE) of the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization at UC.
